The issue in GetHuman-woottong's own words
A Verizon technician installed a FiOS connection to my home on *********. I find that my telephone line now uses Verizon voicemail instead of recording messages on my answering device. Beforehand, I had told Verizon agents that I wanted messages to be recorded on my device and did not want Verizon voicemail. I want Verizon voicemail disabled and my own recording device enabled.
GetHuman-woottong did not yet indicate what Verizon should do to make this right.
I have an issue with Verizon too
How GetHuman-woottong fixed the problem
On *********, I called either *-***-***-**** or *-***-***-****. I was unable to reach a human, so I wound up asking to be called back at *:**PM on ****. Verizon did not call back at that time or within * hours later. They might have called earlier (when I was unavailable) and left a message on Verizon's voicemail. (When they installed FiOS, they switched me from my own answering device to Verizon voicemail, even though I had asked them not to do that when I ordered the FiOS installation.) On ****, I reached Marsha on *-***-***-****. She tried very hard and long to help me, but Verizon's system foiled her efforts. Verizon's Internet pages ignored my password. I wanted to continue auto-pay, which I had on my copper-wire line for years. Marsha helped me discover that Verizon scuttled my auto-pay arrangement when they installed the FiOS service, and steered me to re-establish it. (That included a set of criminally one-sided set of terms & conditions.) She steered me to a site that was supposed to download a one-time bill that I could pay while the new auto-pay arrangement was being set up, but it downloaded a bill for a month in **** or so instead. She said that she discontinued Verizon voicemail, although I do not yet know whether my answering device will re-start its function. I wound up talking to a Verizon fellow named Lawrence in Pennsylvania who told me I do not need to make a one-time payment because I specified that auto-pay payments will be made on the *th of each month while my next bill will be due later than that. Verizon sent me a bunch of E-mail messages but does not have an E-mail address to which I can tell them what I want and do not want. They do not send adequate information on how their FiOS installations are connected. In general, they have some good employees, but not enough of them, and their system for dealing with customers is screwed up in a way that cannot be unscrewed.
