What is the difference between NYSE and Euronext?

Asked 6 months ago
NYSE Euronext is a global operator of financial markets, but traditionally there have been a few key differences between NYSE and Euronext. NYSE, or the New York Stock Exchange, is the largest stock exchange in the United States and primarily facilitates the trading of U.S. listed securities. On the other hand, Euronext is a pan-European stock exchange that operates in multiple countries including France, Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, and Ireland. Euronext facilitates the trading of European listed securities. These two entities merged in 2007 to become NYSE Euronext, which sought to create a more integrated and efficient global market by linking the different national exchanges together. NYSE Euronext offers a comprehensive range of products and services across multiple asset classes, thus providing investors with access to a broader and more diverse market.
