What is the difference between OEM and compatible cartridges?

Asked 6 months ago
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) cartridges are created by the printer's manufacturer and are specifically designed for their printers. These cartridges are made to meet high-quality standards and ensure optimal performance. However, OEM cartridges are often more expensive. On the other hand, compatible cartridges are manufactured by third-party companies and are designed to function similarly to OEM cartridges. Although they are not made by the printer manufacturer, they are built to be compatible with specific printers and meet quality standards. Compatible cartridges generally offer cost savings compared to OEM cartridges. While OEM cartridges are typically recommended for the best results and to maintain warranties, compatible cartridges provide a viable alternative at a lower price point. It is important to note that the use of compatible cartridges does not void the printer warranty. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and budget when choosing between OEM and compatible cartridges.
