To get help with an order you've already placed, press two now. To repeat these options, please press four."
This line is a service number set up for customers of the online retailer Wayfair. Some online retailers have a reputation for being difficult to get a hold of via phone. However, I was able to quickly connect with a customer representative to make a change to an order I had recently placed.
When I called, I was greeted with a short and sweet automated message that offered only two options: receive assistance with an already existing order or place a new order. Although it’s sometimes helpful to have a lot of choices, it was nice to encounter an online menu that seemed specifically designed to route your call to the appropriate place as quickly as possible. It took less than 30 seconds from dialing to get my call pointed in the right direction.
The intent of my call was to speak with a customer rep about a set of bed pillows I had recently purchased. I was hoping to change the delivery location, having realized I wouldn’t be home to receive the delivery on the appointed day.
After selecting the menu option dedicated to already existing orders, the automated system informed me that it was having trouble pulling up my order. Wayfair’s automation software evidently recognizes customers by phone number and attempts to match that number to your existing order. I had placed my order via cell phone but was making this call from my work number.
I was prompted to enter the number I had used for my order. Upon doing so, I was connected to a customer rep within seconds. The rep was extremely friendly and had the details of my most recent order pulled up very quickly. I asked if it was possible to change the delivery address on the order. Fortunately, my pillows had not yet shipped, and the rep was able to easily make the switch.
My experience calling the Wayfair customer service line couldn’t have been much simpler. I was able to accomplish my goal in less than five minutes total. Should a call to Wayfair be unsuccessful, the company also provides chat-based customer assistance via its website. Both this phone line and the chat-based assistance are available to customers from 8 a.m. to midnight EST on weekdays, with slightly shorter service hours on weekends.
Based on my call to Wayfair, I would certainly feel confident calling this number again to receive customer assistance with an order. The entire experience was streamlined from start to finish, with each part of the system seemingly designed to deal with common order-related questions and requests as quickly and efficiently as possible.
